Dr Michael J Gonzalez and Dr Jorge Miranda-Massari are pioneering doctors from Puerto Rico who were both featured in That Vitamin Movie. They are well known throughout the world for their work with vitamin C.
Recently a 54 year old lady who suspected she had the Zika virus presented herself in Ponce, Puerto Rico (Dr Gonzalez home town). The Zika virus – which is related to yellow fever and West Nile viruses – is transmitted by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. The woman in Ponce had oral blisters, fever, a rash, a headache and red eyes – all classic Zika symptoms. And indeed she tested positive for the virus.
She was administered gradually increasing doses of Vitamin C for three days. First 25g, then 50g, then 75g.
After three days the patients Zika symptoms were completely gone, even though the team noted that it normally takes two weeks to recover from Zika. She had showed marked improvement after only one day.
For years Andrew Saul has hailed vitamin C as an “amazing anti-viral” and this case would seem to re-enforce that opinion. The team involved in Puerto Rico have called for increased study into the vitamin’s use in these situations.
